THE CHALLENGE
Populace had no existing digital presence, which meant the design had to start from zero. The challenge was to:
Translate complex, data-driven research into digestible, engaging content
Establish a trustworthy, modern identity for a first-time web user experience
Support diverse audiences with varying needs and familiarity with the subject
Build a scalable content structure that could grow with the organization
Our mission is to change systems, but without a website, we were invisible to the people we needed to reach.
Populace Stakeholder
THE SOLUTION
Developed a clean, purpose-driven website to:
Clearly communicate Populace’s mission and leadership
Present research accessibly with intuitive navigation
Build trust with stakeholders and media
Encourage newsletter sign-ups and ongoing engagement
Support growth with a modular, scalable design system
Research & Discovery
RESEARCH PROCESS
Led stakeholder interviews and anonymous surveys to uncover priorities across key user groups: Policy Makers, Academics, and Curious Citizens. The research revealed a need for instant access to credible content, mobile-first usability, and a modern, trustworthy interface.
These findings directly shaped the site’s architecture, content strategy, and visual design to ensure clarity, accessibility, and impact.
Competitive Audit
To guide design strategy and differentiation, I conducted a competitive audit of value-based care platforms including Aledade, Wellvana, and Castell. I analyzed navigation structure, content accessibility, and messaging clarity.
Information Architecture & Strategy
Developed a clear, scalable information architecture and detailed sitemaps to organize complex research content logically. This foundation enhanced findability, improved user flow, and supported a flexible structure for future growth and content expansion.
WIREFRAMES
Wireframes prioritized clear messaging, intuitive navigation, and trust-building design elements. This foundation ensured users could easily access complex research while feeling confident in the platform’s credibility and purpose.
FINAL DESIGNS
The final designs featured a clean, modern look and feel with intuitive navigation and clear messaging, reinforcing trust and accessibility across all devices.
KEY OUTCOMES
The new site strengthened Populance’s authority, boosted partner engagement, and improved content discoverability. Positive feedback and a scalable design system position the platform for growth.
NEXT STEPS
Next steps include monitoring user behavior to refine the experience, expanding personalization, enhancing mobile features, and evolving content strategies, ensuring the platform grows with user needs and mission goals.
